  • Fortuniana Rootstock
We are your West-Coast grower of custom-grafted, band size roses on Fortuniana Rootstock. Why Fortuniana? Roses grafted onto Fortuniana are known to produce more blooms than other rootstocks. The plants are also known to grow bigger and the size of the blooms can be up to 20% larger. Fortuniana roses are also known to be able to thrive in your gardens for over 40+ years. Fortuniana Rootstock has also shown to be disease resistant to crown gall and Nematodes. The Fortuniana we grow on has also been virus tested and is known to be drought tolerant. Fortuniana is recommended for hardiness zones 7 and higher.
  • How To Plant your rose grafted onto Fortuniana Rootstock
When you receive your grafted, band size rose. It will come in a one gallon nursery pot that can be planted directly into the ground. Roses on Fortuniana should be planted with the graft union a couple of inches about the soil, as grafts on Fortuniana can not be buried under the soil. Fortuniana developes a very stong root system after the first year, but it is advisable to stake the plant to prevent any damage to the plant while it establishes its roots. Once established it is recommended not to hard prune the bush. It does best when only pruned back to waist level every year.
